Re: should I wait to feed...
You can feed him. They poop when they want to. Some hold it for over 3 weeks and then just let loose!
I find my ball python often poops right after a shed.
Re: should I wait to feed...
Most people would never take a snake off feed for any reason. Even through seasonal/breeding and shed cycles. Most keepers offer food on a regular schedule and let the snake dictate whether or not it eats. At least that's what I do.
Re: should I wait to feed...
i offer food to my yearlings (08's) every 5-7 days my 07's and older get offered food every 7-10 days if they eat they eat its not a problem unless they lose weight but no matter what i would always offer food on the days you have scheduled for them, it's not a big deal if they havent pooped in a week or two like previously mentioned but what might help is to place your snake in warm water 80F-85F make sure it is no warmer i often find that when i bathe my snakes the warm water helps them and they often poop in the water while they are waitin for their turn to be cleaned . . . . try this and hopefully it works!
Re: should I wait to feed...
'Bathing' a snake is not necessary imho. I wouldn't worry about it too much, as the amount of poo will vary from snake to snake and depending on how much is food is being consumed. It's possible you are offering smaller meals that there isn't much 'waste' leftover to poo out. It also sounds like you may be using a wood chip bedding and may just be missing it.
I'd continue to feed regularly. (just curious about the size of the snake and the size prey being offered) If you notice a swelling toward the vent then you will want to take the issue more seriously. At that point you may want to soak the snake or even seek professional medical advice.
Otherwise just try not to worry to much. It all comes out in the end. ;) :giggle:
