    i know they are reptile safe.. why dont more people use them?? is it price?? because i can get it locally bulk for cheap...

    Well, it's just another form of aspen substrate. Maybe people do use it, but refer to it simply as shredded aspen? Or it could have something to do with the texture or how fine the aspen is shredded? Or maybe people do use it and you just haven't heard from them. ;)

    It's cube cut, not shredded. I used it for year but it's just not as absorbent as pine or shredded aspen. Also, being cube cut it has corners that get stuck in snake mouths.

    I still like it for smaller colubrids but pythons and boas, not so much.

    I have heard they are very hard to clean, and they some how end up everywhere! But for colubrids there awesome!!
