Reason for forcing a shed when sick/injured?

I have read that a Ball python will force a shed when sick or injured. This is true of my injured big female. Why would they do this if the injury is not sking related? Any, opinions?

If it's not a skin injury, I have no clue. What's wrong with your girl?

I took her to the vet (also made a post about the injury in the husbandry section to see if something like that happened to anyone else).
