hey everybody ... i was lookin at my lil BP today n seen she has a dented eye ... im rather confussed why this happened because she is on coconut husk in a glass cage with a plastic cover screen top... im using the "crappy" dial guages for temp n humidity indicators- i know im plannin on gettin some digitals soon - my temps at the moment are kind low 87 ambiant 91ish under her hide-where the UTH is- and 84 cool side- as for the humidty it says 60% now and been up around there for the last few weeks....but im workin on insulating it today to get the temps up - anyways ive misted and got some new plastic wrap over the screen top to up humidity but im going away for a few days starting tomorow so i need some tips on what i can do so it doesnt get worse while im away

Dented eyes are a sign of low humidity.

If the snake is NOT in shed, you can soak it in warm water (80 ish) no deeper than an inch or so. Get the humidity up in your enclosure and you should be just fine. If your leaving for a few days, soak a towel, ring it out and set it on top. If you can have anyone change that towel daily while your gone with a clean damp one, that would be better.
Re: dented eye cap ... need a "quick" fix
put a bigger water bowl in there the more surface area the higher the humidity and try putting the water bowl on the warm side but not under a heat bulb
Re: dented eye cap ... need a "quick" fix
ya i already have the biggest bowl that will fit in her tank... and my humidity is already high ... when i refill the water bowl with in the hour theres usually condensation... thats why im confussed as to why shes dehydrated ... as for ppl comin to change out the towels or even the water bowl thats not gunna happen cuz all my neighbours are snake-a-phobes lol ... but im planing on giiving her a soak later... could there be reasons that could cause my snake to stop drinkin water ??

She likely does drink just fine, as bps rarely do drink at all;) So you really have no way to know. Your best bet is to get a digital hygrometer, that way you can see if there are drastic drops in humidity (usually over night) which would cause eye denting.

whats the best place to put the hygrometre ??.. i had it directly on the substrate so i guess that would give a false reading ... ive moved it to centre near the top of the tank now

Somewhere around the middle height of the tank is good.

ok well crisis averted lol... i got everything set up prefect for the bath and when i went to go get my lil girl her eye was already back to normal! ... n her belly looked a lil pink so i guess a shed is on the way, which is also a lil strange because cuz she just shed a a few weeks ago - after an almost 8 week no shed period but that mite just be another post lol
Re: dented eye cap ... need a "quick" fix
From what you've said regarding your humidity being through the roof I would be more concerned that her belly is pink from soaking in wet substrate.
Proper humidity should not be that hard to maintain. It may take some tweaking but is manageable.
Try to keep her humidity on track, but her substrate dry.
Their flesh can break down as easily as ours.
