    UTH vs. Heat Lamp... unsure
Okay this is kinda strange... I own a corn snake and for those goes everyone says use the UTH. I just bought a BP and everyone has been saying they like basking and will get too hot with a UTH because the temp must be much higher than for a corn therefore bringing the UTH temp closer to a number that can damage your snake. DONT WORRY... I will use a Thermostat. What is the general consensus? UTH or Heat lamp?

THANKS a lot... I love my BP a LOT already... they are very different from corns

For a BP, UTH. For a corn, heat lamp. BPs absorb heat more from their underside than corns do. Thermostat is essential;)

hmm on the corn snake forums they all suggested UTH... never heard one person suggest a lamp. Thanks for the info, unless someone else posts otherwise I guess I will get a UTH. Any other opinions?

Well hold off and do some research, I personally do not own corns but I have had kings. I have always heard they do better with lamps, but then again I was not 100% sure which snake you were asking about in the original post...so I answered both. I can tell you a lamp will be cheaper than a UTH with a thermostat, but as for better, lets wait for more opinions.

they should be pouring in any second now... tap, tap, tap.

Yeah, I have been trying to find some info on this for BPs but have not found any yet. The argument btw for UTH in a corn application is that it helps with digestion to have heat from below. And I am most concerned with which is best for a Ball Python.

Ohhhhhh sorry, yes UTH for a BP for sure, sorry about that I guess my eyes are just not right today. Belly heat is definitely better for BPs than a lamp would be, especially considering the heat range you require for a bp.
