handling... Day or night?

Do you hold your BPs during the day, or the night?

I figured with them being nocturnal it would bother them to be held during the day... But GTPs are nocturnal too, and from what I read it's better to handle them during the day because they go into feed mode at night.

My BPs are all in my bedroom, and I don't get home from work till after 9pm, at which time my bf goes to sleep 'cus he gets up at 5 am. So I find that I'm not handling them as often as I would like to, because opening the cages and whatnot would wake up the bf.

I guess it's not a big problem because we should be moving in a couple weeks to a 2 bedroom so I'll have my reptile room :D But I'm still curious.

That was supposed to say a couple months, not weeks. We are aiming for April 1st. :D

That is really up to you, when you handle. Everyone's schedule is different. I handle after 48hrs of feeding and that's for only 5-10 minutes top. Just remain consistent with what is best for you and your boids and it will be fine.:)

I hold oakley at different times and he doesn't seem to mind.

I just don't want to deprive them of sleep and have them be stressed out from handling them during the day.

God I should never have children. I'd be one of those moms that runs to the doctor whenever the baby sneezes. lol Good thing BPs don't sneeze :rolleye2:

No it doesn't, but it sounds like those boids are in good hands under your care. Enjoy them as you see fit :).

Ours really doesn't mind when we handle it... we've been mostly handling ours in the daytime, since that is when we've mostly been hanging out at home, although our BP in the daytime likes to curl up in its hide all day and remain unnoticed... I guess it depends on the temperament of your BPs... I know the only time it got testy with us was during its shedding cycle in the daytime...

I handle mine whenever I can. Sometimes at night, sometimes during the day. I can never take pictures at night though because she is all over the place! I don't think handling them during the day would interrupt their sleep schedule. They don't need to go to school or go to work, they can just sleep whenever they want. (lucky!!)
