BP ate a live pinky will it be ok?
    Hello to all,

We recently purchased a baby BP and its seem to be doing really well but tonight he ate a live pinky. Struck and swallowed the pinky live without any constriction. Have any members experienced this before? Do you think he be ok? The pinky looked to be only a couple of days old and our BP is about a foot and a half long. If anyone has any thoughts or comment they would be greatly appreciated. We had a baby Redtail a few years back that regurgitated and died the next day and I really would hate to deal with that again.

    Thanks

I am sure your BP will be just fine, but a pinky is waaay to small, even for a hatchling. You should start you little one on small-med mice.

Thanks so much for the quick response. Our local pet store only had pinkys tonight and our BP just shed and was looking mighty hungry. Maybe from now on Ill wait for the fuzzys. Once again thank you.

Have you thought about switching to frozen thawed? Most large chain pet stores carry them. I only have one BP, so I buy a pack of large mice every 2 weeks.

Both pinkies and fuzzies are way to small for a ball pythons, you need to feed a prey slightly smaller to equal your BP's girth size (widest part of your BP's body)

Hathchlings are usually started on hoppers and quickly move to adult mice.

We've tried several times with no success but maybe its time to try again. Any tips on the procedure? I have a friend that recommended placing the frozen in a baggie then in some hot water to bring up the frozens body temp. It didnt work so Im open to suggestions.

    Thanks Again
