    humidity
so as far as the question of the life time goes once again i am having trouble with my humidity, i have takin styrofoam pieces wrapped in black felt and taped on the sides and back of my glass enclosure ( 20 L by the way) i have duct taped aluminum foil over most the top im using a ceramic heater, i have cypress bedding also sphagnum moss inside the aquarium, i have to mist at least a few times a day but when i leave for long period of time and come back its right back to 20 % i dont know if my reader is just giving me false readings or what but i have no idea what more i can do short of just turning my room into a jungle and letting my snake roam free. help please!!

The CHE will suck out the humidity. If you add a UTH, you can then have the CHE a little higher above the enclosure, or turned on less or turned to a lower setting. Make sure everything is controlled by a t-stat or at least a rheostat.

Adding a water bowl with a larger surface area will help.

EDIT: I forgot to ask, is your gauge digital, or one of those analog dials? The analog ones are notorious for being inaccurate.

i actually have a UTH also and they are both controlled by a herpstat II so it works pretty well i have a water bowl that is just a plastic container and i was tempted to move it right under the CHE but i wasnt sure and my themometers and hydrometers are both digital. I was just asking about inaccuracies because it seems almost impossible that it is always so low

    Re: humidity
In my house for most of the winter, the digital humidity gauges usually read "lo" if I have one out of the enclosure. If I remember correctly, that means 10% or less. So 20% doesn't sound impossible at all.

    Hello,

Are you using screen cover? if so, put a damp towel over a large portion of the screen lid..leave some room for airflow...This worked wonders for me.

I also use this method to keep my humidity stable, but make sure that you change your towel frequently because it will begin to smell of mold...lol
