    Howdy
I just found this forum today and have been reading about on it. I got my first BP a little over a week ago. I "rescued" her from petsmart out of the enclosure with 10% humidity. She is a little over a foot and has settled in well. Im still "fine tuning" the humidity but have the temps pretty well fighured out. I have been handling her for short periods and she seems curious and not too scared. I fed her for the first time last night and she took the mouse with great enthusiasm.

    Here are a few pics

10% humidity? I wonder what they're telling the new snake owners about how to care for their snakes...

She's adorable by the way. :) I like that red-brown color she's got right now.

Thanks for the welcome :) When I bought her the girl told me "Would you mind catching it out yourself? I dont "do" snakes" She then proceeded to say "I dont know WHY it rolls into a ball when you handle it ... " I didnt even bother to say anything. It was dull and wrinkly when I brought her home .... she has shined up and "smoothed out" considerably. I was told they had it there for about a month and she had been eating good. So far she is doing great.

First of great looking snake. She is a beute!

I like her markings and coloring.

As far as "rescuing" her from Petsmart, I would not suggest this (stick with me don't get mad yet) and the reason is if people stop buying from Petsmart then they will stop selling. I know there are plenty of people out there that do not know there are way better options I mean its Petsmart it is where you go for all your pet needs there is no way they could not know what they are talking about. So congratulations on your new girl and I am happy you like her she is very pretty, but do not buy these animals out of sympathy it only prolongs the problem and puts more BP's in that situation. As hard as it is I just walk away from them at those kinds of stores, I do not even look at them any more it just makes me sad and angry! I hope you understand I was not trying to get down on your for buying her from Petsmart.

I know petsmart is far from the best place to buy ANY livestock .... compared to the three other independent pet stores here .. their critters are MUCH healthier (terrible isnt it?) This is the first BP I have seen at our local Petsmart. They usually only carry smaller snakes, lizards and such.
