Re: Hey! What's cookin'?!?
Good thread... I suck at cooking and could use some ideas... haha.
After watching V for Vendetta yesterday, this morning my boyfriend made us "Eggy in a Basket" as they call it in the movie, or Rocky Mountain Toast as he calls it... or a Bullseye as my grandpa used to call it. So many names but it's delicious and easy. Basically you cover a frying pan with some butter, put a piece of toast on it, and cut a hole in the middle of the toast. Once the pan gets warm you crack an egg in the hole so the yolk sits in the middle. Then flip it over for about ten seconds and you're done. Yum Yum!
Re: Hey! What's cookin'?!?
I probably won't help with new ideas... I like boring food.
I'm making my favorite tonight - steak and mashed potatoes - but a close second for me is homemade chicken noodle soup.
Less than thrilling... I know... but I grill up a mean steak!
Re: Hey! What's cookin'?!?
A nice rare steak with either sauteed baby bellas & onions, or bleu cheese crumbles. A nice large sweet baked potato with real butter & cinnamon sugar...and for desert Peach cobbler with vanilla icecream

I was curious about how you were supposed to make that, it sounds a lot simpler than I thought it would be.
I wish I had a grill, cooking steaks and what not would be clutch.
Re: Hey! What's cookin'?!?
I just bought a new grill so I had to get it going tonight.
I had some rare steaks and corn with butter lots and lots of butter!
Normally it is where ever I go for dinner, that's why I got the grill so I can cook at home more.

I had some rare steaks off the grill tonight! I didn't have any corn though.

Sundays are my comfort food days...
Cheeseburger with poutine... Meatloaf with potatoes and root veggies... Chicken or Beef Stew... Pate Chinois... that sort of stuff.
Today I had peanut chicken and sweet potatoe fries.... not sure they are *supposed* to be served together but they were delish. :gj:

Garlic Pasta! 1 clove of minced garlic for every pound of pasta, a cup of real Olive Oil for every Clove to sauté.
You have to watch the garlic, don't burn it, but get it to a golden brown and soft.
This is a pasta best served with fillet Mignon or venison, even elk goes well with it. I'm talking steak here.
But if you serve it as the main course go with steamed broccoli and mix it and sauté it with the garlic for flavor and serve it over grilled chicken breast.
I cook like a mad dog for all my family, even those fools I hate. You wanna cook? Talk to me.
