Shed Question: at a loss, never heard of this
Ok my BP is in a cage that is kept between 50-60% humidity. When I notice blue eyes I bump the humidity to 60-70% and add a humid hide, which the snake has been staying in. Eyes turned blue about three and a half to four weeks ago and cleared about three weeks ago. Usually he then sheds within a week, and will not eat until finished shedding. After two weeks of cleared eyes I offered food and he accepted. I have made sure to keep humidity at least at 65%, and make sure the sphagnum moss in the hide is moist. Because this has taken longer than I have experienced with any snake, I have also been spraying him every other day.

Has anyone else had it take so long for a shed after the eyes clear? Has anyone heard of this before, and if so should I worry or do anything special? One of my snakes eyes turned blue a week after my BP and another's eyes turned blue one and a half weeks after. Both of these snakes shed shortly after the eyes cleared as has always been my experience with snakes.

Thanks for any advice and should I worry?

The eyes go blue twice before shedding, it depends if you caught the first one or the second.

Thats what I would like to know. I check all snakes daily and never witnessed such, and that includes the BP in question. Still seams like a long time to me.

When I say twice I mean once in the beginning then they clear up and just before they shed they will cloud up again.

I just had a girl shed and leave the shed inbetween sheets of newspaper. I see her all cleaned up but no shed:confused:, took me while until I figured it out.

I think my snakes just clear up and shed... never seen 'em go blue again.

My girl was like that too. I was actually thinking about asking the same question. She seemed to be going into shed, she clouded up alot, then cleared up. so i figured, she should shed soon, but nothing has happened. She has been eating and acting normal, but with a very dull colouring and rough scales.
