    not coiling
hey guys i have a question,

last friday i tried feeding my ball, i feed live and it would just bite the mouse and let go it wouldnt coil up so i wasnt sure what the problem is, it was only the second feeding and she missed it she didnt eat the mouse so im going to wait till wednesday to try and feed again hopefully with some different results. but my question is if anyone has had similar problems with them not coiling the mouse or if that is just a sign as if they are not interested and do not want to eat

How long have you had the snake and how large is the snake? I am not the most experienced with snakes. But I have heard that some snakes that were previously fed F/T may not coil after a while. But that is just what I have heard.

Also. Is the mouse fairly large and the snake fairly young?

well the snake i got from bhb was an 08 so its fairly young the mouse is just a regular feeder mouse just like a white lab mouse for some perspective umm she has fed once already when i first got her i fed her like a day after i got her and she took the mouse no problem the snake is probably over a foot long stretched out, not to chunky

Sounds more like a defensive bite not a feeding response.
I have had BPs coil and not eat but just a strike ... more like defensive.
Give her/him more time then offer it again or try a different mouse.

I agree that the behavior sounds defensive. I typically see this when the animal is going into a shed (or is in deep shed) and wants to be left alone or when the food item is too large and the snake is intimidated/fearful.

well she has ate a mouse of similar size so im guessing she was just stressed or something but im going to try feeding tomorrow so hopefully we have a different story:rolleyes:

Wait a week in between attempted feedings.

Is your husbandry spot on? My snake used to do that when his cage was too large and he was insecure with his environment.
