Usually it happens when I forget and leave the latches undone. One time I woke up and my one snake was 90% out of his tank, lol.

    Re: Escape
One of my boas escaped once. I was very sick with the flu, and forgot to lock the cage back after I fed her. I found her about a half hour later about five feet away from the cage behind a dresser. The cages and racks that I have are escape proof when locked, or closed properly. Human error can always come into play though.

I underestimated the escape capabilities of my 1st BP and he was never to be found after that breakout.

I don't know how people let their snakes escape....

I've had both of mine for a year, and never had a scare. And I don't think I ever will. Get some locks for your tanks people, or get rid of the snake.

Go to petco, petland, petsmart, petwhatever and get some locks for your tank. They are cheap and can be very strong.

I put way to many times to count as off the top of my head I can't remember. I had two in a row just last week. The first time I didn't latch the cage all the way. The second was when the stinker pushed so hard that it popped the latch off (a homemade cage).

I am glad you have never had an excape, but dont look down your nose at those that have. Even the best cages and best intentions you can overlook, get sick and forget, or whatever.
With one or two snake you have a very small chance for something to go amiss. The more snakes you get the easier it is to over look.

I have always found my guys/girls and know where to look. Last week was the first time my beautie got loose. He was easy to find boy dose he like to climb, where my balls go for the same corner every time.

I remember the days when I just had 2 snakes, I never had a break out. Everything was perfect, but now that I have 13( counting my roommates) things happen. Especially if myself (or my roommates) dont hear the SNAP of the lids.

I had my big boy excape and to this day I can't figgure out how he got out. His lid was shut tight, no way out but he came and curled up next to me in the middle of the night (he is the only one that didn't go to the "normal" spot for the others. Guess he wanted to curl up and get warm.

Now that I think of it counting last week (after my car accident) I THINK I have had 5 but since I don't panic and rip my hair out, just look where they like to go it isn't a big deal to me.
