raising the Humidty

Im having a problem with the humidty in my BP tank. I have placed the heat light over the water bowl. I cant get the humidity over 40%.
I am also having a hard time keeping the temp in my new snakes tank over 85. I have a heat light, and a UTH were the snake hides. Any suggestions ?
I was told by the local pet store that I should buy another heat light and place them both in the middle of the tank. I use a red light to keep the temps around 85 at night.The tank is a 40 gallon long glass reptile tank

get a full enclosure i just built one and it came out great and hold humidty very well. 55 to 60% and when i mist it gets up to 80 to 85%

Have a look at our glass tank setup sticky.

Main thigns to suggest are lining the bottom, back and both sides with insulation and covering the screen top (if that is what it has ) with aluminium foil taled down (tape on the outside only please :gj: ) over the whole lid with only the space needed for the heatlamp left uncovered.

I would probably also recomend just using the red lamp 24/7 as the ambient light in the room will probably be enough to give him a day/ night cycle.

I also want to ask how and where you are measuring your temps and humidity - we recomend the acurite digital weatherstation with probe that wallmart sell for around $12.

I ask this as the most common type of analogue thermometers and humidity gauges are, sadly, junk.

Any pics or details of your setup will help people give you more specific advice.
