wild caught

i just bought a wild cause ball how long should i quarantine her before introducing her to my pastel(male)

is there anything i should worry about with buy a wild caught ball?
if so what should i do?

wild caught balls are very hard to breed.how big is she?does she have mites?have you taken her to a vet?

Oh my G...where do I start with this one.

First off, Welcome to BP.net.

WC Balls need to be started very carefully. Go on ahead and get the idea of putting her with your Pastel anytime soon outta' your head. You have a lot to accomplish before you even get close to that point.

1) QT for at least 90 days...longer is better.
2) Remove any visible ticks you can find.
3) Treat for mites....twice.
4) Get with a good vet to start treatment for internal parisites.
5) Get her to eat.
6) Get her up too breeding weight.

Then you can start thinking about breeding her....I wouldn't risk trying to rush through all that before the end of this breeding season.

How much overall experience do you have with BP's and snakes in general? Doesn't really matter I guess, cause you dang sure jumped off in the deep end of the pool with this one.

No disrespect, but shouldn't that have been a concern BEFORE you chose to purchase a WC animal?

Generally, WC's do not do well in captivity, require very special care to get them out of the shock of being taken from the only life they've known and brought into captivity. And according to the Barkers, rarely breed well in captivity.

no mites i bought here from a very well know pet store here in houston i held her for the first time today and looked her over for mite and saw none. shes in quarantine for now seems to be adapting very well she ate 3 small rats today. seems not to be stressed about new enviroment

Just adding my noobish insight here... :)

Both my male and female are WC. The female is the best eater I've ever seen.
She had some troubles poo-ing at first, but the vet worked his magic, and
she's been golden ever since. Currently she's 1380 grams. :)

The male was a WC pet store rescue. Poor guy was covered in mites, and had parasites to boot. Again, the vet was awesome. After about 6 months
in QT, he was eating like a champ, and got a clean bill of health.
The male is sitting at 1350 grams.

I know each case is different, I like to think I got lucky with my two.
