My Setup Changes????
hello all i post pics earlier about a week ago, and some one gave me so pointers, so i took in advice.. I know the hides are not the same, he seems confrotable right now i am working on getting two hides the same, HARD TO FIND IN STORES AROUND HERE!!! they suck!!! The temps on the thermometer are wrong... I just got finished spot cleaning his cage, and the probe pulled out of the substrate...my main concern is my new water bowl is this too big, too wide or is it just alright.... I hated the old bowl the other person had in the cage it was a tall huge dog bowl.. any questions or concerns do not hesitate to ask or criticize anything thanks to all

Re: My Setup Changes????
I think it looks fine:D
Bigger water bowls mean the snake can soak if he/she wants to.
All thats left is to cover most of the screen with foil, foil tape, or i used duct tape.

Re: My Setup Changes????
thanks,,, his heat stays pretty good in range..and his humidity...is it nec. to cover or what is the effect of covering..

Re: My Setup Changes????
When you cover some of the screen it helps to keep the moisture in the tank, a good hunidity level should be around 50% it should be bumped up to 60-70% during sheds.
If it is too low bps have trouble with shedding, and seem to dehydrate faster. Mine lives in a big tank rite now, I covered most of the lid, but thetank is too big, and I can keep the humidity at around 40%, but she has some trouble shedding, so during sheds I mist the tank 3X a day, that bumps it up to 60%. In a few weeks I'm going from tank to tubs.

Re: My Setup Changes????
I cover 2/3rds or so of my screen top with glad press and seal - that will really help with the humidity aspect of it.
That water bowl looks fine to me.

Re: My Setup Changes????
Thanks for all your help, I set the probe back in where it is supposed to be and it is reading the right temp and everything, also I have a UTH, and I did not have a Rheostat or thermostat. I checked the temp, and it was way way high.. I put the rheostat on, and bang the temp is where its supposed to be, and everything is awesome.....I believe this is why he has been stressed, and off feed... Hopefully in a week or two I can get him to feed...

Re: My Setup Changes????
I found that particular rheostat to be downright awful in my experience, it would never go lower than 100 degrees because of it's limited "4 settings" so I took it back and got a lamp dimmer for $9. Just make sure your probe is right on the glass as you need to know the hottest point your snake has access to, because he will find it and he will wiggle the substrate out of the way to get flat against it.
It does not matter what your water dish looks like as long as it is relatively heavy (not easy to knock over) and can hold water. You may want a deeper dish so your bp can't knock it over. Bps do not usually soak so they do not need a dish big enough for them to fit in. Typically bps only soak if there is something wrong such as a mite infestation.

Re: My Setup Changes????
so far the rheostat is actually doing really really well.. It has the high down to 95... That is the hottest point on the glass, You might have just had a bad rheostat..As my father says it is all machines,, and machines were built to fail.. So who knows but thank you so much for all your advice from everyone... I got everything together now.. I even put the alumni. On the top so i really appreciate all the help. AND I will always come back here everyday.
