So we know all about heat... now, I'm wondering, how can we cool?

I was just talking to a friend of mine in the Philippines. Most of the houses there don't have AC. So, it is very common to have indoor temps in the mid 80's. My house here in Florida is set to 80 in the summer. This is perfect for a BP... but now I have a hognose and the cool-end is supposed to be 72. So, for my friend in the Philippines who is thinking of a pet snake and my hognose, I am thinking we need a way to cool down one end of a tank... so, uh, there is nothing anywhere that I can find that does that. A UTC would be what I need... under tank cooler!

Anybody know if there is something like that?

As far as I know, there isn't. I can't really think of a way to keep it cool aside from a fan blowing directly onto or into the tank. Even that is iffy.

Im no genius, but like humans, your not suppose to stay directly in front of a fan, the wind gets you sick over time, dont know how that'll work with a reptile, also u'll just be blowing the same room temperature around.

Im stumpped on any ideas, ME- I'd just provide a lot of water and wouldnt worry about it too much thats not a big temperature difference, a fan is good for good air circulation, just not aimed in the tank, my opinion only

I think one of the boaphile cages has built in cooling fans... Im not sure though, but you could check it out...

I ran into the same problem last summer. I put bottles of frozen water in the tank against the cool side hide. I insulated them by wrapping paper towels around them. Assuming that there will be a refridgerator/freezer, that might be a good solution.

I would notice my milksnake would burrow in the aspen right next to the bottle when it got to be like 90 degrees. I think it's a cost effective, simple solution, cycling 2 water bottles from the freezer to the tank every other day isn't very labor intensive.
