Okay, I give in
The Crested bug got me. Resistance was futile.
Especially when I saw this little love for sale. I love anything lavender, and those little freckles are adorable. I'll be picking him/her up soon, once I get a cage set up.

My question is regarding the caging. I am thinking of going with an exo-terra 18x18x24. From the caresheets I've read, this should be okay for one gecko? Paper towel substrate, daily mistings, CGD/fresh fruits/occasional crickets, plants to climb and hide in, and a small humid hide.. What am I missing?

My breeder told me that cage was too big for babies. Don't know how old the one you are getting is.... For babies he had me get one of the little plastic critter keepers. guessing it is like 12 x 8 x 12 or so.
I feed 100% Crested Gecko Diet. Don;t know what it is called... comes in a foil bag.... got it from the breeder.

Re: Okay, I give in
As far as the Critter Keepers, the small ones which are perfect for small Cresties is about 9X5X6 or so, and they work out great. The bigger the container the more stressed the Crestie gets and the harder it is for them to find their food. Make sure to put something for them to climb on and maybe a piece of fake vine or something to give them security. I am now officially addicted to these little boogers, the collection is growing! :D

Re: Okay, I give in
Thanks for the advice. I'll start with the critter keeper, and then move up to the large cage once this baby gets some size.

That's what I tell everybody ;)
She is adorable, congrats :gj:
I feed mine CGD http://www.pangeareptile.com/products.htm#superfoods and occasionally I feed crickets (very rare) I mostly do when I know I am going out of town, I feed them crickets the week before so they are nice and full when I leave. (I don't like bugs ;))...........the CGD is a complete diet that contains everything they need.
As far as enclosure goes I keep mine in a small tub until they grow enough to be in something bigger. This way they are not stressed and can find their food easily.

Re: Okay, I give in
Good pick up!
Another thing about such a big enclose is that cresties do tend to fall. The smaller the gecko, the bigger the cage the more damage.
Like posted before, lots of fake plants (with big leaves) and vines and stuff. Hobby lobby offers much better foliage than the generic pet trade stuff.

I really appreciate the insights and experience being shared. I hadn't even thought about falling or being unable to find food, and the tip for searching for foliage at a craft store makes great sense. Are plastic, or the cloth type plants best or does it matter?

I like plastic better myself easy to clean and disinfect.
