BP's Eyes not clear after shed
Hey everyone, my ball python has had what looks to be skin from his shed still on his eyes. I haven't done anything about it for a while. I thought it would come off with its next shed, but no luck.

Any ideas on how to get it off his eyes, and is it unhealthy for the snake to have this occur (as well as me leaving it alone for a while)?

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's pretty unhealthy. I've had great success removing stuck eyecaps by just soaking the animal for a while and wiping them away with a fingertip - but I've never let them go through two sheds that way.

Good luck with the li'l guy!

Yea, that isn't good for the snake.

You can try to soak the bp - check out the bad shed, no problem thread for a pictorial of how to do a good soak.

That has always worked for me when Stan has had a bad shed.

If you are sure the eye cap is still on there I use clear packing tape stick it to the eye cap and it will pull right off but you need to be sure that it is a eye cap that they did not shed and not just their eye.

The making sure it is a stuck eye cap is the first part of this. Eyes can be cloudy for other reasons as well. Corneal Edema can affect ball pythons as well. This is an example of a really bad case of Corneal Edema.

The best way to make sure it is a stuck eye cap is by looking at the shed. This is a picture of a shed with the eye caps that came from the above snake.

This was how this guy came to us and at first we thought it was a stuck eye cap and during his initial vet visit the vet glanced at it and thought the same. After a couple of good sheds we had to take him back to the vet with his sheds that included the eye caps and that was when the vet diagnosed it. Ways to fix it very.
