Need info on caring for Blood/Ball python eggs.
Ok guys this is going to sound really stupid. I have a borneo blood python. When we had bought the snake we was told that it was a male so much to our surprise it wasnt. We had our friend's ball python in the same cage as it since we was only temp. keeping the ball for them tile they could take the snake back since they wasnt allowed to keep the snake where they was. Both snakes was suppose to be males and they got along really well.I went into the snake's room yesterday to get a box out and I looked over at the cage and my blood python was laying eggs( which I was shocked giving the fact that it was suppose to be a male).I have no clue as to how I'm suppose to care for these eggs especially since I have looked alot of different websites and they give different info on the snakes. I had read that these type of snakes (blood ball's / superball's) grow at a faster rate then other snakes. All the websites that I had found didnt go into much detail on how to care for the eggs.Could anyone give me any advice on this.

Not trying to sound negative. But if you don't have the room to house two snakes in seperate cages then I wonder if you have room for however many eggs your snake laid. You would probably be best served not to incubate them. Just put them in the freezer and then throw them out.

ship them to me and i will hatch them!

if you really want to hatch them, then i would look into getting more info on blood python eggs rather than ball eggs. if you decied to incubate them, then make sure you get a rack or something to keep the babies that hatch in. you need to keep them all seperate including the adults. they may not hatch at all. sometimes hybrid breedings just don't take and you'll get all duds.

you could go all natural too. what is your tank setup like? does it hold humdity/heat well? what are your temps? you could take the male out and let the female naturally incubate the eggs. no matter what you need to seperate the male and female.

We do have the room to house other snakes. I wasnt going to go out and buy a whole setup for a snake that wanst mine. The person that owns the snake didnt have the setup and like I said it was only for a short time. I own 2 other snakes that have their own setups ( bloodtail- female and a olive ball python- female each in different cages) so why would I drop $500 on a setup for a snake that wasnt mine.

    Well, congratulations... kinda.

Talk to the people who have bred Super Balls. They are the only ones who can give you real time advice.

But my question to you is this...

Can you house all these Super Balls? What are you planning to do with them if they hatch??

How long did you house them together?

Sounds like whoever you get her from did the same thing, housed snakes together.

You could try and incubate them, 89 degrees.

But like said above, if you dont have the room to house 2 animals seperately, how are you going to house all the babies....

    Best of luck

I believe superballs are only fertile from borneo females to a male ball.

How sure are you they're eggs? We need pictures

A temporary setup for any snake shouldnt run you any more than like 20 bucks. Sterilite tub and a piece of flexwatt
