    shedding problem??
hey everyone. my brb seems to be having problems shedding. he is taking a long time and has been in "shed mode" for atleast 3 weeks and hasnt really started. in those 3 weeks i havent fed him becuase ive heard that you shouldnt. should i give him a pinkie to get him fatter or should i just wait. also the last 2 times he has shedded, its been in pieces. ik with my ball python, it was a skin issue and it eventually led to him dying (or so i think). any ideas or recommendations would be great. also i do keep the humidity nice and high, and ive tried giving him baths but there is no way he will take on without me throwing him in. ha

    thanks a lot

cage is a home made 36''x20''x20''. it has about an inch or so of mulch that was recommended that i use by the worker at the pet store becuase it held moisture well and helped with higher humidity levels. i have a decent sized water bowl thats usually half full, a couple logs and a plastic tree. 3 peices of moss. the top of the cage is split and has 2 screens that slide out, the one over the heating pad is completely covered with a peice of thick cardboard, and the other side is mostly covered.

sry for the late response, ive been without a computer for the past week. he still hasnt started shedding in full, a couple small peices here and there. i fed him a couple days ago and im hoping that will do something.

Do you have a good digital thermometer and humidity guage? What are they reading? How do you know you have high enough humidity?

trouble shedding is generally caused by one or two things (sometimes both), too low humidity, and an underlying medical issue (ie, mites, intestinal parasites, uri, etc) knowing your temps and humidity would be helpful and vital as brb's need pretty high humidity
