Any Major Differences?

Before I came to this forum I didn't even know there were African Soft Furred Rats.

Are ASFs the rats that you usually find at the pet stores?

If not are there any major differences that make them better to feed to snakes than the normal pet store rats?

No, they are not the regular rats that you find at the pet store. I'm not sure if there are any differences nutritionally, but some people believe that its easier to get picky eaters to take an ASF. I personally have not witnessed this (i.e. my picker eater decided to eat rats, then hated rats and loved mice, then hated mice and loved ASFs, then hated ASFs and now loves rat pups....still a picky eater). I like the ASFs because of their ease of breeding. They do not smell as bad as regular rats and they are more appropriately sized when full grown for a ball python.

you wont find many in California, they are illigal.

The only way you can get them in California is if they are dead and frozen...

What Im sayin is....if you look hard enough....you can find ANYTHING
