    Citrus based cleaner???
Is a non-toxic citrus based cleaner okay to use? This is not just for bps but for colubrids and geckos as well?

I wouldn't. If you want something that smells great, try Nolvasan-S. Otherwise Chlorhexidine is a good choice.

How about the new lysol spray that they market as safe enough to use on food and near pets???

If you're talking about cleaning their environment, I use soap and water and then Chlorhexidine spray and air dry.

When my snake needs a cleaning (after laying in pee, etc.) I use chlorhexidine way diluted on a paper towel and let the snake slither through it :P

I've used a citrus based cleaner to wash out my tubs, works well and smells great. I did make sure though that I rinsed thoroughly....

I don't use it any more though, I use a local disinfectant, the only reason for the change was cost and stronger disinfecting properties.

thanks for the replies. and yeah i would rinse it thoroughly after washing it to remove any residue. same as I do now with a homemade vinigar to remove odor.

I might get crap for this but I clean my tanks with rubbing alcohol. I wipe the tank down with rubbing alcohol till the paper towel comes out clean. Then I let it sit for a while to get the fumes out and then put down a layer news paper, paper towels, and then aspen bedding and some moss for humidity.
