Just like the title states, why did you choose reptiles?

This is a really odd question, IMO.

easy to care for? not annoying like cats and dogs.

I agree with Dan. I don't have enough time to devote to a dog and I hate cats. To me nothing is as pretty as a green tree python anyways. I grew up terrified of snakes, but always fascinated. I got a ball a year ago, then a few other things. Eventually a friend let me get a carpet very cheap and that's when my love for morelia fell into place. My girlfriend keeps my first ball and now I just keep a few carpets and green trees. I think the best decision of my life was getting over my childhood fear. This is defiantly a life long passion for many people and I think it will be for me as well.

I dont think of dogs as pets, more like family, so i would never compare my dogs to my snakes, but i chose keep reptiles because i was always fascinated by their scales, and color, and the way they were shaped. Once i found ball pythons and all the color mutations you can get out of them i fell in love with the idea. So i got a regular ball python at first, and then got into boas, and still loved ball pythons. Then after a few years i got my first morph, a spider, then i got a pastel, then i got a albino, and after a while i got a bunch of big breeder 100% het albinos and i also have a few baby hets, maybe like 4. Now im starting breeding projects and have been very successful with locks ups! I've already gotten a pair to go into a true lock up for over 30 hours. And im sure that i have a gravid het albino female on my hands :) so yea, i just love reptiles and think they are AWESOME!

Hmmmm, to me they are easier to take care of than dogs and cats and such. Plus i hate cats with a passion. I think snakes are gorgeous animals, and they dont need the attention a dog needs, they arent as hyper or destructive, they, its just easier to have them around and i believe its alot easier to mantain multiple snakes as dogs start getting to be a hand full. someone mentioned dogs being family, they are great and can be great companions. but i am VERY attached to my BPs, like i would be to a dog. just my 2 cents

Subliminal, scared of frogs? Can't say i've ever heard of that one. I think I would have to agree with the general consensus of everyone that has posted in saying they are much more interesting than dogs and cats. I do enjoy the company of a dog but the time it takes to train them is a pain. I didn't get my first ball (Oakley) until my buddy was trying to get rid of his. We eventually got my fiancee (Hissy) because she wants to try our hands at breeding. To me it's more challenging to breed snakes then it is dogs or cats. My mom-in-law and sister-in-law cannot figure out for the life of them why we would want snakes and of course have the mentality of "the only good snake is a dead snake." They just don't understand...and we are also hopefully gonna get a juvi savy in about 2 or 3 weeks.
