ATB GTP ... have you ever been bit ?
ok im considering getting an aboreal snake and leaning towards a ATB of GTP and by seeing pics of their huge fangs and hearing of their agressive rep im currious to find out huge much damage they can cuase an owner and how much it hurts ????
Re: ATB GTP ... have you ever been bit ?
A GTP and ATB are no where close in comparison. A full size ATB or ETB is going to send you to the hospital. I personally saw a guy get nailed by a GTP in the palm. Upper tooth almost went threw and GTPs have short teeth (when looking at ETB). Carpets have the longest teeth in the Morelia genus.
If a ATB or GTP are your choices get an ATB because you're not ready for a chondro. No offense, just you need to do more homework before narrowing that down to the one you want. ATBs are hardy snakes (as are chondros) but require much less work.
Re: ATB GTP ... have you ever been bit ?
an ATB teeth are no where near the size of an ETBs teeth. their heads are significantly smaller. ETB have huge teeth!!
ive been bit by my GTP as a neonate and it just broke the skin. it wasn't a bad bite and now that she is older, she never bites.
make sure you do your research on both. if you decied to go with at GTP then get an older well established USCB animal. this way the animal will be more able to cope with your learning curve. this doesn't mean you can skip on knowing all that is involved with the care of the species before buying it.
if you decied on a ATB then again make sure its a USCB. this might be a better way to go until you learn all about areboral husbandy.

Ive been bittin by both, not really too bad. With either species you will take a bite eventually, its just a matter of time!:gj:
