Is the AP rack 1754(6) 6/12 Tubs any good?
I have been thinking about building a rack (getting more BPs and looks like a good idea to have a rack)
I have been reading all the DIY posts, and also looking for prefab type racks, I was thinking more about back heat, but I'm not sure. Is this model rack a good one? from the cost of the tubs, and rack it looks like it will cost less than building one myself. No place around here carries flexwatt/or thermastats for it, and other building materials are costly around here (the one place that has melimite (i spelled that wrong) will not pre cut it.
any way, any one have this model?

I have a 1756 (9) and 2 of the economy plastics from AP and I can say without hesitation that the racks rock and so does AP's customer service. Can't go wrong with those guys!
Cheers,
Kat

Just noticed you're location. You might want to give Ali at AP a call, she can talk you through your best options depending upon your room temps, etc....

Re: Is the AP rack 1754(6) 6/12 Tubs any good?
I just ordered a 1754 (10) 10/20!!! :salute: Here is some info I was getting ready to post here about the tubs.
I thought I would transfer the tub information into the forums before it's lost. Animal Plastics racks use the 1752, 1754 and 1756. As most of you know Sterilite has discontinued some of these tubs and some are hard to find. The 1752 is hard to find, but the 1851 (Walmart) can be used in its place. The 1754 has been discontinued and replaced by the 1753 (exclusively at Target). The 1756 has also been discontinued and replaced by the 1755 (exclusively at Target). The new 1753 and 1755 have latches on them, which are easily removed. The tub then has a small gap (see picture below) that is 1/16" in size. As far as I can tell, this won't be a problem as long as your rack doesn't have a large gap. I have a 1754(10 shelf) Animals Plastics rack on order and will post more info when it comes. I am picking up some 1755 tubs this week and will post pics of the gap on them as well.

I would go with the flexwatt belly heat. It's not on option on the checkout, but give them a call and they will do it for you. :salute:

Also you can start picking a couple tubs here and there to make sure you have enough when you get your rack. :salute:

I keep my living room (where I will be keeping snakes) at between 75-80*F during the winter....with the ac running all summer it cools down to about 85-90*F (need a new ac, or a downstairs apartment)
