Hello from across the pond (UK)
    Hi Guys

Found my way over here through a link on a British forum. I've had a bit of a look around and though it was about time I stopped lurking and introduced myself!

I'm a 29 (thirty in feb!) year old male and have been keeping herps for around 18 years. I am also very fortunate to be able to work every day with a great deal of exotic animals as I am a lecturer in animal management at a college and we have our own zoo! I also work eaach weekend at the zoo as a visitor host/animal presenter (I do the talks and hands on sessions!).

Anyway, here are the obligatory pics of a few of my animals (these are my own, not the zoos!)

That's not all of them, but a small selection that give you an idea of what I've got!

And this is me and some of my family (the girls are my nieces - I have too many animals to afford kids at the mo!) I'm in the brown!

I love UK/Aussie accents! "Across the pond" Cracks me up everytime, don't take this as an insult, I love the accents!

Hi! Weird thing, I signed up for a UK forum (www.theroyalpythons.co.uk) because while looking at their posts, they all say different things than this forum! For example, they don't care about humidity over there (I guess it's always humid across the pond?). And, if you feed live you're toast! And that's after my getting used to reading royals instead of balls...

Glad you're here to give us some different perspectives!

Yep, it is definitely 'always' humid over here! Or at least it doesn't get so dry that a large water bowl in the viv is sufficient to sort it.

Live feeding is a bit of an issue, many people over here think it is illegal to feed your snake live. It is not illegal over here at all, but most people in the UK prefer to feed F/T (It's easier, cheaper, less dangerous for the snake etc etc).

I personally have no problems at all feeding live (provided it is done carefully and quietly and not posted on youtube whilst the owner cackles and laughs in the background!).

I breed my own rats for my guys, but all are prekilled before I feed (except the odd live pinkie for the beardy as a treat.)

I hope I will provide some interesting contributions

    Cheers
