The "Stare" and the "Yawn"
Hey,
its Andrew-still kinda new to the site.
I have a 7 month old female ball python.
She "stares" for minutes at a time, like when i hold her-she will hold a gaze with her neck erect. her tongue does not leave her mouth...hmm.
And I've always wondered about the "yawn deal"- i held her today and she yawned three times in like 40 mins.
any thoughts?
Re: The "Stare" and the "Yawn"
She might have an upper respiratory infection. Not sure though, more people will answer soon.
Re: The "Stare" and the "Yawn"
Sometimes snakes "yawn" to thermo-regulate and or to re-align their jaws.

Did a search, found this: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ght=stargazing
You can also google things like that to get more information.
Re: The "Stare" and the "Yawn"
Many BP's do both those behaviors. Mine do too.
Re: The "Stare" and the "Yawn"

that kinda scared me though:
upper respitory infection, and a neurologic problem????
great....
anyone else have any knowledge or opinions or personal experience with this issue?

Unless you significantly notice it happening consistently I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Re: The "Stare" and the "Yawn"
has the snake eaten recently?

Hi,
Do you hear any unusual sounds when she breathes? clicks, pops or whistles?
