That box around his neck is a containment collar. We had problems with Mylo going into our neighbours houses causing problems, and another neighbour has a sandpit for their kids which Mylo was using as his personal toilet.

So he caused our neighbours to go a little :rage::taz::taz::taz::taz::rage:

There is a radio wire around the perimeter of our property which gives off a radio signal and if the cat goes too close he receives a mild electrical deterant from the collar. Not a nice thing for the poor guy to experience but it only took one correction and he now knows the boundaries, it was either that or he had to go.:tears:

He's a clever cookie though cause when we take the collar of every now and then he makes dash for freedom and then when it is food time he's back. Also we see a lot of cats that have been run over in my area, so all in all it is safer for him....

We've got another 2 cats that also have the containment collars....

I used to have containment collars on my dogs because they loved digging holes under the fence and running around the neighborhood. Really light electrical deterrant, nothing more really than what you would get by putting your tongue on a battery, but enough to show them they're being bad :P

I think it's kinda funny he used the kids sand box as a litter box though lol!!

Thanks, yup, Mylo is super cute. Although he walks around like a gangsta he is very cool, wants to be friends with everyone.....

Yah, the shock is a mild one, the other plus is that the collar gives the cat a warning beep sound when it is close to the perimeter, and only if he persists in going closer does he get corrected. So they know when they are too close. Funny thing is that one of my other cats sometime just sits close to the wall with the collar beeping away, seems she tries to test the system to find a weak spot. Our house sometimes sounds like a disco when all 3 cats are near the perimiter..... disco kitties :banana::rofl:

Funny for us that the cat uses the sandpit as a pooptray, but the owners of said poop tray were :taz::taz::taz::taz::taz: . Not nice when they come knocking on your door:mad: he he...:weirdface
