    Rack heat fluctuations.
OK I have my rack and it seems like every few days I am having to tweek my heat temp on my T-stat.

For example on Monday I will have every thing set correctly. Then Tuesday the front of my rack will have the proper temp but the back is too cold ( adjust accordingly) Wednesday the back of the rack is just fine but the front is too hot. and so on and so forth.

Also my top tub is always a couple of degrees cooler then the bottom some times as much as 6F. I have the probe on the heat tape on the middle rack.

I have my snake room heated to 80F so the front should be just fine.

I was thinking of burning some holes in my tubs to allow air flow but if that is not going to help I do not want to burn holes that will do nothing.

What type of thermostat are you using?

I found that burning holes in the tubs stabilized the temps in my racks. Also, with no holes, aren't your tubs too humid??

    I am using a helix dbs1000 perportional T-stat.

This might be the wrong way to do it but I mesure the humidity of my room. I keep it between 50 & 60%.

If the tubs are in a closed rack system, chances are the humidity inside is higher than the room humidity. You might wanna check inside the tubs, and add ventilation holes accordingly.

m00kfu is correct. If you're using the acurite, place the probe on the belly heat side, put the actual device on the cool side, and you'll get a pretty accurate reading. ^_^ I had issues with that when I first got my rack. I felt like a mook.

I did two rows of one to two inches(depends on the tub) apart holes. Works hella great.

Meh. I'd start with one row on either side, holes about an inch apart, and see how things turn out.
