Ive had snakes that make noises like that on rare occasions that never got respiratory infections. But its good to notice signs like that...maybe a sign of something bad, may not. Only way to know for sure is to see a Qualified Herp Vet.

Keep temps 95-85 high side low side. Humidity 50%. Make sure the cage is cleaned Spot cleaned daily and all bedding cleaned every month or more if needed. Most likely your ball will be ok. If you see signs of Mucus, Bubbles, etc....its time to see a vet to get Antibiotics. Sadly I had to take 2 snakes to the Vet yesterday wich proved costly.....Could have been prevented had I followed my own Husbandry rules to a T but due to working 75 hour weeks, Xmas, and working on a few projects...I ended up slacking....wich is unnaceptable.

How long have you been hearing this sound? I would say make sure your temps are correct and if you continue to hear it have a quailified vet check it out.. I would keep in mind the other signs as well like you are doing. Better safe than sorry.
