    Lighter?
Normally my normal female is a nice brown. But lately, I've noticed she's getting really light. She has turned several shades lighter and her blushing is increasing. I've seen no other breeding behaviors save the one lock at the beginning of the season. I haven't paired her up recently (nothing in the last month) and she took a meal yesterday. Any thoughts? Should I continue trying to breed her? Could it be that I'm just missing everything?

No one has any thoughts on this? I checked her last night and she is still light as ever. She is hanging out on the warm side of the tub for the most part. Temperature is normal, as we've been keeping the house very warm and that room in particular stays about 5 degrees warmer anyway.

Sounds like the Glow a gravid female gets. Sometime it only takes one lock to do the trick. I have several females who are glowing.

Sounds like 'the glow' to me. She doesn't have to have locked recently. Females are experts and storing sperm until they are good and ready to produce. I have girls every season that I think aren't going to go, then 3 months later they start glowing and building. Weirdos. Keep an eye out for her ovulation and shed. Incidentally, what was she bred to?

    Cheers,

She was bred to my het pied male. I hope to produce poss. het pied females and I will breed them back to the het pied male in 2-3 years.

I will take some new pictures of her tomorrow when I clean tubs. She doesn't seem to be getting any bigger though. I guess we shall see. I'll need to get an incubator set up just in case she produces eggs this season. :) Should I continue to introduce the male every week?
