Does breeding make snakes happier?
Hi,
I have a male BP that I'm not planning on breeding any time soon, if ever. I also have a big male JCP that I don't want to breed...mostly because I don't have the space and money (14 yrs old, I'm just happy I can afford snakes and their caging).
So the question, does it increase their overall lifestyle?
Thanks all,

I know for a fact I would live a shorter much less content life without the opportunity to reproduce......
The desire and urge to reproduce are instinctual. I believe even females live longer life's when breed at-least a few times in there life span compared to not ever being breed. Both sexes surely can be over breed and succumb to respiratory infections or other issues that can/will shorten their life spans as well.
Re: Does breeding make snakes happier?
I know their instinct is to breed, but in the wild only the largest male gets to breed...if my little Caesar says relatively small, his chances to breed would be slim...
Re: Does breeding make snakes happier?
you wont have to worry much your 14 now bps live 40+ yrs. b4 your bp can get to upset that it hasnt bred yet youll have the money to and prob have a handfull or two more.

How do you measure happiness in a snake?
I think they'll be just fine, and you shouldn't worry if you don't intend to breed them.
