Humidity problems

It is cold out so the heat has been kicking on allot. The humidity in the apartment has dropped to 22%. I checked on MJ this afternoon during the daily water change and she is blue. I sprayed a couple times today to try to raise humidity for her and it just drops back down. Grrrr. So then I added two small bowls of damp moss, one on each side. Same thing. Grrrr. So I sprayed again and started to tape off the vents, from the outside of the enclosure of course. I am hoping this will keep it up for a little while. I think I will try a rain dance next as I can’t think of anything else right now.

Shoot. I just typed up a really long answer, then my computer crashed. :(

Anyways, I totally get what you're saying. For months, I struggled through my girl's bad sheds, spraying her tank every hour I was home. It still plummeted down to 45%. It was a nightmare. Poor Cu.

Then, after 3 terrible stuck sheds and trying so so so hard, I thought of moving her to a bin. I got a 41 quart, 6" high bin for her with 2 holes drilled in each side. The humidity gets up to 80% without misting or anything like that. Not only does it hold humidity well, but it holds heat well, and it makes my girl feel really secure, meaning she is eating much better now. Since I've moved her, she hasn't rejected a single rat!! Who knows? Maybe my fussy eater will take f/t rats? That would be soooo great.

I seriously reccommend a bin to anyone who doesn't have one. It is super easy to clean, and keeps your snake healthy and warm and happy (what more could a mommy want for her girl?).

(P.S. my Cu girl is 3'10"... pretty much full grown. A younger snake would do better in a smaller bin)

Put a warm water humidifier in the room and it will help a little as well!

I got MJ in an RBI and Ingot's in a tub. Both were having the same problem, just worse for MJ being in shed. I drove down the road this morning and got a humidifier that seems to be working wonders right now.
So I am now doing the happy dance instead of the rain dance.

I use a tub now, which works well, but when i had a tank I just put in some spaghnum moss and sprayed it daily. Worked wonders and I had a moist towel over the top of the cage.

id try a humidifier and connect it to a humidity guage.. thats what im gunna try to do. im new to snakes so dont take my advice over experienced people.:)
