Cooler + Hovabator Incubator Option
Well I have a female who is going to throw me a clutch within the next couple of weeks for me (fingers crossed), so I decided to get the incubator out, dust it off, and get it calibrated...then I thought...'Hey Josh, you should take pics and post them and share your method with all your BP buddies!' :P
So here are some pics. It is another cooler incubator but utilizes the heating element from a hovabator rather than heat tape.

I had a hovabator laying around that I use to incubate Leo eggs in back in the day. Well, if you are familiar with hovabators, you know that you can't get many python clutches in them. Sooooooooo...I bought a cheapo cooler, took the heating element out of the hovabator, made some minor modifications to the lid of the cooler and now I have a bigger incubator which allows me to incubate multiple clutches. I have used it for the past 2 years and have not lost a single clutch. Let me know if you have any questions! :salute:

Thanks all. It takes maybe 10 minutes to build and as I said is really efficient. Next season I am going to remove the heating element from the cooler and put it in a small fridge. I will update ya on how that does. :)
Re: Cooler + Hovabator Incubator Option
Have you thought about adding a fan to it? I've got a few extra hovabators laying around I might take a look at them for this purpose.
Re: Cooler + Hovabator Incubator Option
Does it still utilize the original thermostat?
I THOUGHT I read somewhere the original stat wasn't the greatest...
Neat idea!

The Hovabator I used, had a fan built into it. The fan would kick on when the heating element would be on.

Ya I use the original thermostat just to calibrate the temperature. I just adjust the dial warmer/cooler until the thermometer reads what I want...
