    Anyone ever have a lipoma?
I have had a small marble size lump on the back of my right thigh for a couple of years. I kept an eye on it to see if it would grow or cause me pain.

Well a couple months ago the area started to become uncomfortable. Mainly when I sit down, and my whole entire leg has become somewhat uncomfortable, especially my joints. The feeling does not hinder me from going about my normal lifestyle and it is not keeping me up at night. My leg just tends to throb a bit.

I went to see a MD and he thinks the lump is lipoma and was not too concerned. He was more concerned about the aches in my right leg. He thinks when I sit I could be pinching a nerve or the lipoma could be interfering with the blood circulation in my leg. Never the less I am going in for a consultation in about a week to schedule a surgery to have the lipoma removed.

I am hoping it is a lipoma and nothing too serious :( And that he is correct in that it is the reason for the aches in my leg. I am able to walk and run just fine. It is only when I sit do I feel the aches.

It's a shot in the dark but I was curious if anyone else has had a lipoma as the doc said they are fairly common. And if you have, did it cause you any sort of aches? Thanks all! :salute:

I had one removed from my elbow (of all places). Yes, it did ache. A lot. It's a good idea to have it removed, they can get pretty big. Nothing like your body using some randon spot to dump fat into...LOL

That makes me feel better. Did it just bother you around the lipoma? Or did parts of your arm ache? Mine is only a size of a marble, and is causing my whole leg to flippin throb!

I've got one on my back. It's not near any joints so I don't have the same issues you've described. It doesn't cause any pain or anything, but some days I can just "feel" it there and that sorta bugs me....certainly not worth having a huge hole dug into my back to remove it. But if it were near a joint or pinching a nerve or anything else, I'd definitely want it fixed.

It only hurt because it was on my elbow and I would lean or hit it all the time. Other than that, no pain to speak of. But as Judy said, once in awhile, I would feel it.

Same here. Two doctors said my chronic lower back pain is associated with the lipomas (these suckers are attached to muscles, not just under the skin) & wanted to cut me open, and one doctor said the pain is totally unrelated. I just try to work out a bunch and keep the abs strong so the back doesn't hurt and that's worked so far. So I'm not sure if the lipomas cause the pain or not. But no surgery for me...:colbert:

    ....quick update...

....I went in a couple weeks ago and the doc cut me up. They got the mass out of my leg and the tests came back fine. Looks like everything is good as of now! Thanks everyone for the support! :salute:
