The Final Answer

I've seen all kinds of things about how KSBs give birth, but what is the truth? I've seen places where KSBs are refered to as "Egg-laying boas" and as live-bearers in others! What's the final answer? Do they give birth live or with eggs?

Eggs one of the few boas to lay eggs.

Eryx Colubrinus (Kenyans) give live birth.

I stand corrected. I thought all of the "sand boas" layed eggs. didnt realize that the arabian and west african were soo different from the kenyan WHen i say "sand boas" I am refering to the more popularly kept ones.

Are Eryx Muelleri and Eryx Jayakari Rough-scaled Sand Boas? And why by a Katzbalger's* blade are they called boas if they lay eggs and don't even live in the New World <--(but I know there are exceptions to this rule)

Difference between boas and pythons include:

With one exception, boas do not have a supra-orbital bone. All pythons have this bone.

Not all boas have labial pits and if they do, they are located between the labial scales. Pythons, on the other hand, have theirs centered on the labial scales.

The premaxilla (an area of the jaw) of boas are without teeth, while the premaxilla of most pythons are toothed.

So one thing that truly makes pythons different from boas is the supra orbital bone. Is it just a coincedence that boas and pythons have those other "in-general" differences between them?
