I need some advice with my new Black Pastel
Hi, I just got a baby Black Pastel! I am not sure of how to handle her when she is in her "hiding place"... If I want to take her out and she is in her cave should I remove the top and take her out? will this scare her? or should I wait until she comes out?

    Thanks for your time,
    Adrian

Well first if you just got her do not handle her for a week, just let her acclimate to her new surrounding. Once a week has passed offer food. If you are successful than you will be able to handle her 48 hours after she ate.

Now back to your original question, just slowly lift the hide, watch her body language make her aware of your presence by slightly touching her and than just pick her up.

I let my snakes know im in the area with a small tap on the glass. Sometimes they poke their nose out to see. The act of taking the lid off will let them know im in their cage. They dont seem to mind that much. After i take the hide up slowly i let them sit for a minute and get used to me. Then i slowly pick them up.
