I think we may take a trip to the vet tomorrow

Avy has a lump just past her ... ummm ... rectum?!? I will be calling the vet tomorrow ... unless someone has some input on this. I found a vet very close that takes snakes :) so that's a plus! I am as a loss here I have NO idea what is normal but I am pretty sure this isn't .... I don't get a reaction from her when I touch it, so she doesn't seem to be in pain. Impaction would occur on the other side of the rectum ... this is on the tail side of it ... so I just don't know! Any guesses?!?! I am worried about my new buddy!

I tried to get some pics ... it doesn't show up well with my phone and my kids have hidden my good camera!! :( I am cleaning today maybe I'll fine it ...

any ideas? anyone? I will be taking her to the vet asap .... but I want some idea of what to expect. it's there a gland there or anything?! *sigh* I guess I am worried.

How big a snake/ lump is it - and are you really sure she is a she?

Ok ... Not sure if she is a she ... the snake is between 4.5 and 5ft ... and the bump ummm size of a grape.

keep in mind he/she wandered in from the street. I know nothing about her or how she was kept before just that she is a sweet heart. I figure I should take her in anyway to get a once over. Just the bump kinda made me want to expediate the process kwim?!

I can't speak a whole lot about the lump, but considering the circumstances you acquired this snake I would think a vet trip would be a good idea regardless... People on the forums can be very helpful but can't compete with a vet, and considering your snake has been living in your cabinets for who knows how long, eating who knows what... it just seems to me like a checkup is just a good way to start things off right...

I have been reading your posts about Avy and it has been rather enjoyable. Its nice to see somebody so enthusiastic about adopting a snake that they found in their kitchen. Keep us updated!

thank you! :) Honestly, growing up my mom and dad tried to make sure I understood snakes were to be feared. I never really understood it I asked a few times for a pet snake but never pushed the issue, I knew that I would never change their minds. So when Avy peeked her head out there was still that bit of fear but mostly excitement. That's why my bil had to pick her up that first time. LoL
Last night I took her out and I was sitting with her in my lap and went up my chest, licked my ear which cracked me up then she put her head on top of me head and watched the family from her perch :rofl: She is just too cute!! I just finished spending some time with her and I put her back in the tank she popped back up and put her head on my boob and just stayed there until I "scratched" (more like tickled) her head.

She's Awesome. LoL

I don't think it will be long before there is another snake in my house ... I need to find a corn snake breeder in MD (my mom ... yes the same one who thinks I am crazy for keeping Avy) wants to get my son a snake and he want's a corn.

You need to add a ball python to your list of pets.:cool:

good on you for rescueing the snake I hope it turns otu to be nothing wrong .. after the holidays contact me I might be able to hel pyou in your search for a cron snake .. i am on the eastern shore lowere Delaware but i can meet near the mall in salibury or with in a distance. I get lost to easy to be gonig to balitmore or the dc area lol..
