    Book types?
Lots of people know what I'm doing with the book by now, but I need some feedback on the cover type. Do you guys like hard cover books? w/ or w/o/ a dust jacket? paperback? or you don't care at all.

Keep in mind this pertains to informational books.

    Doesn't matter to me.

While a hard cover / dust jacket combo is nice, looks great for a much longer time, what's really critical is the content. Not just the pretty pictures, either!

The first really great reptile book I bought was Kevin's book. I like the stability of a nice hardback book.

Thank you both for your replies!

I'm thinking that i may release several versions of the book because the price jump is significant. (assuming the book gets "officially" released at all).

I can't wait till the book comes out and I can see the wonderful photographs taken. I've seen some photos and they are awesome.

I think that that's a great idea. Hardbacks for all of us crazies who're willing to spend the extra few bucks for a long-lasting book and paperback for those who tend to use it for more practical uses. -Grins.- I'll probably buy both just so that I can have one on the shelf and one near the scale kids.

I like paperback books because they're cheaper.. lol

Though for a nice novel, I prefer hardcover w/dust jacket. Reptile books however I usually prefer in paperback.

When I think of an informational book I thing a text book.
I think the size of the book helps determine book type.
I am not familiar with your book but it seems you will have many photos and a hard cover would seem in order.

If it was a smaller more pamphlet size book I would say paperback is OK but otherwise go hardcover, dust cover is a nice touch.

Best of luck with your new book!

I love hard back with dust covers on them, especially the type of book you're planning to do. Considering I have both Kevin's and the Barker's books, the price doesn't prohibit me from getting the book! :D
