    Need advice again....
I do read a lot here.... just don't post much. :) Anyway... Eddie hasn't eaten since Nov. 24th! He was going into shed so I left him alone. He pretty much never even stuck his head out this time the whole time. Saw he had moved hides finally yesterday and found his shed. Sooooo.... figured he was starvin'!!! His strike has never been very "impacting" like I see on videos from others. Very weak... takes forever even to strike and take the food at all. Mouse just dangles and dangles and dangles.... my arm gets tired.... he finally takes it.

So I decided to try to see if he would prefer a live one. Put it in there.... scared the crap outta him and he went back in his hide. He'd come out... look at it... "think" about striking... then retreat again. lol Was funny to watch my 'sissy' snake scared of a mouse. I realize since he's never SEEN a live one before it may be a bit unnerving. I even pick it up by it's tail and held it there for him.... not interested.

I'm thawing one of the dead ones out now to see if he wants it. Doesn't matter to me if he wants live or dead... I just want him to eat. Anyone else have a snake that just doesn't have a real hearty strike?? I have to admit.... I like see them stalk... then strike hard and coil. It's part of their being. :( Eddie just seems like he's a sissy. lol :rolleye2: If I get another snake later, I"m sure he/she would make fun of Eddie.

Since he is used to feeding f/t he was probaly scared of the mouse being alive since he is not used to it, I would try feeding him some mice fuzzys live to get him turned onto then feed him a mouse. This is how I went about turning some of my snakes off of f/t and onto live. But seriously if you try that I almost guarantee it will work. Goodluck:gj:

How old is he? I think he would eat live..he probally just didn't want to eat then. It's not unusual at all for a mature (6 months plus for a male) to go off feed this time of the year, winter, cooler, breeding season. Don't worry unless you start to see significant weight loss. Keep offering, but he will eat when he is ready.

I guess he's about 6 months old or just over... got him for Father's Day this year. I'll just keep stickin' em in there I guess every couple days. Usually I can tell when he is hungry.... his demeanor changes a bit while out in his cage. My daughter said.... "are you going to name them while you keep them in there" (talking about the two mice). I said "yea.... dinner & supper". hehehe :colbert:

Don't feel bad about Eddies strike, Bubba is about the same age and he is scared of everything. He strikes like a baby and when he is out, anything that even moves around his head (could be about 10ft away) he curls into a ball. But Bubba is doing the same thing, just came out of a shed a few days ago and he is refusing to eat. i figure he can go a while so i'm not worried.

I would feed him something tiny. It won't necessarily be a fulfilling meal, but it will be something he can dominate. He probably needs to pick on the little guys before he can pick on the real thing.

Offering food every couple days will only stress him out worse. Offering every 7 days would be better.
