    Some Flaky Scales...Answers?
Hows life peeps? Happy pre-holiday madness to all! Question and concerns. Morphine my BP has some minute flaky scales about 2 inches from her head side of her neck/body, not much quite minute actually.

He/She is fine eating like a pig as usual and drinks very regular , heat on both sides is great and humid levels good. I try and spoil the Sh*t out of this ball so have spent toooo much on all the gadgets and husbandry LOL.

I have never gave it a soak, not sure if i should or what might be causing this? snake is way active when the 12 hours of day time is up and the lights go out and a very very happy BP all day hiding.

Sorry no pics guys...any words of wisdom from you gurus?

    Happy Holidays!!!

I would say to find a way to post pics. Where the flaky scales are does it seem irritated? Swelling? Without pics its hard to tell. Post pics

I would say change your substrate to something less bulky.. I have seen the bark leave splinters under scales, rub them wrong, etc..

Woodchips (Sani-chips, Aspen bedding) would be better.

I just got my first ball. His name is Kashmir and he's totally cool but he's got the same problem. A small patch of flaky scales about six inches from his head. He's about six and a half years old and full grown. I'm new to this. Should I be concerned?

My first thought is a little retained shed that went unnoticed.
A good soaking for a few hours in 85-90 degree water no higher than halfway up the side of the snake should help loosen it off and always is good for hydration.

I would check for mites as they tend to hide near the head/neck area under the scales
