Pink skin?

I wish I had paid attention before now, but the last several feedings I have done with my 06 girl I have noticed that the skin between her scales is very pink. It's only under her head and a short way down her neck, and I don't know if it has always been like that or not. I want to say the skin is usually white, but I don't remember. It's not a burn, as her heat pad is controlled by a thermostat, and I haven't been thinking scale rot, b/c it's just the skin that is pink, the scales look perfectly normal. I only see it when she is feeding and the scales separate when she swallows. Also, I was thinking if it were scale rot, wouldn't it be on her belly, which is always in contact with the substrate, and not her chin and neck. She almost always has her head resting on her body, and not on the aspen.

I was also looking for some feeding pictures to compare. I usually don't like feeding pics, but now that I want to find one, I can't. :ohmygod: I was hoping to find one that shows the underside of the head when the snake was eating.

when that skin is stretched you typically will be albe to see the color between the scales. this is what im guessing your seeing. when they are just starting a shed their belly will turn a light pink color.

belly rot is usually starts out as wrinkled looking scales and or just yellowish browning scales

i had the same thing happening to my baby a few days ago. He seemed perfectly normal and ate well. acutally moved up to adult mice instead of hoppers. After 48 hours i was handling him and found that the pink had gone away. it was about 5-7 days. now his head is starting to shed. how long has the pink been there? i was worried it was scale rot also, just watch ur humidity and temps and hopefully it isnt scale rot, but by the sound of it, it sounds like hes getting ready to go into shed.

It's not actually the scales, so I can't see it once she is done swallowing. It's only when her throat is stretched from swallowing that I can see between the scales and see the pink skin. Her scales are perfectly normal, and looking at her any other time you can't see any pinkness. I just don't remember if that is normal, or if their skin beneath the scales is usually white.
