    Places to make a difference
My family has started a trend where in we don't give each other gifts anymore unless it is something they desperately need.

We now give donations to needy charities in the person's name.

Here are a couple I have donated to in the past (There are plenty more), and maybe will give you an idea to not only give and give generously, but to give to people who may need it more than you...

    www.donorschoose.org

This is a charity that donates to needy classrooms thru-out the nation to provide more supplies and educational materials.

    http://www.grameenfoundation.org/

This charity helps you fund third world country entrepeneurs to better their lives by giving them a loan to begin their business.

    www.worldvision.org

Thru this charity, you can give unique gifts to people around the world to help better themselves and their families.

Just things that have been flowing thru my head these past couple of weeks, and maybe some one will be inspired by it.

These are tough times for everyone... Don't forget that.

ALSO, if you don't have funds to give, make some time and go help out at a local shelter/food bank.

If you don't donate your money, at least donate your time...

    Enjoy your holidays, my friends.

I have wanted to do that for a while now, but I don't know how my family would take it. I don't know if they'd think I was being unthoughtful or cheap. But I figured it would be nice to maybe get some small thing they really wanted, and then donate like $30 or so in their name to a charity that they would appreciate. Say, for an animal lover donate to the Humane society, or something like that.

I just don't know how well it would go over. I think everyone would be pleased, but I don't know...

Also, here's a link you guys might want to check out. I try to click as often as I can, and you can "buy" gifts for people there, but most of the money goes to charity. It's something else I was considering.
