    Herpstat Pro ?
    Hi all,

I have 4 UTH on my glass terrarium 2 small, 2 medium(i live in Canada and the winters are a bit cold) and was wondering is there anything other than the Herpstat Pro thermostat to control all these UTH?

This is highly dependant on what you are trying to do with all those UTH's. There are probably better ways to heat your cage than using 4 UTH's. But to answer your question, you could use one thermostat for all like heating elements. So if you keep the 2 small UTH's at the same temp, you could use one tstat for those. Same goes for the medium ones.

    Hey,

I would think Heat panels would be better.

These are from Reptile Basics and they rock. Big apple herp had heat pads that are awesome. These things are great for larger snakes but might not work for Balls.

I live in Chicago so we are not as bad as you but it gets "my nipples are hard enough to cut glass" cold here! I am looking into a few of the mats for my burms.

And so if you indeed have two like UTH's running at the same temp and two identical UTH's running at another temp, you could use the Herpstat II.

I like the idea of using an RHP myself. An 80watt would do nicely and bump ambient temps as well :)

    Quick suggestion here about RHPs

If you're gonna get one, get them from Pro-Products. They are the best quality out there; prove me wrong.

Hey, another route you can take is to scrap that aquarium an go with a sterilite tub enclosure. They may not look the best, but they sure are cost effective, and if set up right will create an ideal enviroment for your snake as well. Aquariums tend to be hard to keep warm, and 4 heat pads doesn't really sound to efficent so I think this might be a good idea. Depending on the size of the snake 80-150g's 15qt, and anything bigger you can go with a 28qt, 32qt, or look online for sterilite cb70 tubs if you got a big snake. If the snake is small you want to keep it in a nice cozy, comfy home, nothing too large. I housed both my snakes in aquariums as well, and I live in upstate NY and it gets really cold and I was really having a hard time maintaing humidity level and temp levels. I baught a 28qt tub, poked holes in it using a soldering gun, baught a thermometer with a probe/hygrometer, thermostat(ESU), heat pad, and was good to go. In the aquarium she would eat sometimes, and sometimes she wouldn't, and she just displayed odd behavior and never seemed calm. Ever since I switched she has been pounding anything I throw at her, and seems to very comfortable. Are you having trouble with ambient temps, or what exactly? Happy Holidays!
