one more ? about shipping
I am shipping a snake from NY to PA tmrw, Fedex overnite, in 36-40 degree weather. here goes.. the cardboard box has foam panel inserts in it. I punched two generous holes through the box and foam. I am putting in one 40-hour heatpack..
So, what I want to do, is place alot of newspaper between the pack, and the snake bag? There's not a huge amount of room in the box; it is sized for a juvenile; maybe about 7 inches squared inside. I don't want him to overheat.
Just running this through before shipping. I did a million searches on shipping and packing, and I got a bunch of unrelated stuff! Thanks.
Re: one more ? about shipping
Sounds good to me. Do you tape the heat pack to the side so it wont touch the snake?

I think you'll find Post #13 in this thread helpful:

Thanks! I am putting the heatpack in the bottom, and putting newspaper atop it as described.
Re: one more ? about shipping
Another thing to note is that you DO want holes in the box with a heatpack contrary to what the fauna thread says IMO.
The heatpack sucks up oxygen so while the holes hurt the insulation properties of the box it also doesn't cause you to suffocate the snake :)
I tape down all edges and put holes just in case.
Hope that helps :)

Thanks! Snake shipped out, all cozy in his box, with air holes also. :)
