    Banana Bugs!
These are Panchlora nivea, green banana roaches. Not liking the R-word, we call them banana bugs here. I haven't tried them as feeders yet, but I hope they will make a decent source of back-up food items for the geckos. The 20 nymphs that I purchased are now a thriving little colony. I think they are quite pretty little things! They can reportedly climb glass and fly, although I've yet to see them do either. The one in the photos did flutter its wings a bit as it tried to escape. When exposed, they usually just try to scuttle into the substrate or under something.

Ummm... I'm still not liking the 'r' word either, but they are a pretty color green. You just won't see those in my house anytime soon.

Lol! I'm really not crazy about regular roaches - these guys just seem like regular non-roachy bugs to me, though. Why the color green makes such a difference, I have no idea. :confuzd:

Uhhhh. I had a slight cringe instinct, but they are rather interesting. Thanks for posting them up!

Thanks, Kat! The nymphs do that to me - they are much roachier looking.

I got them from Bugs in Cyberspace. I think they are pretty cool. I'm hoping the variety of small nymphs will make it easier to feed my Australian cricket eaters - especially if I'm lucky enough to get hatchlings! ;)
