    Could I see a picture...
Could I see a picture with a radiant heat panel on? I'm looking into it for when my ball goes into the 40B. Right now he is in a 20L and humidity is no problem but I know it will be with the 40.

I have 2 cats that LOVE to lay on the top of the tanks so they can soak up the heat lamps, lol. Would a cat be hurt on this? Would a radiant heat panel hold their weight?

Thanks in advance! I love this board and all the good info people have.

Thanks, I read both threads. They had a special tank though. I was just thinking of the radiant heat panel to put on a glass 40B. Has anyone done that? Can a cat lay on top of it without it breaking or getting hurt?

Mounting a heat panel on the inside of a screen top for a glass tank, while problematic, can be done. You could us small bolts with nuts on the back side, or possibly zip-ties.

In my opinion, cats on top of the snake cage is just asking for trouble. I don't think the heat panel would hurt them, but they might hurt the heat panel...not to mention the stress they might cause the snake.

    Hi Beth~
I would give Rich a call or drop him an email (Reptile Basics) and ask him about the best of way of doing the RHP on a tank. He could also give you advice as to the wattage you would need, as well as pros and cons for the idea :)

Thank you so much. It looks like it will be a lot of work but I will look into it.

As to the cats, the snakes seem to be used to it. My King snake is always out and around and the bp acts happy and healthy. I have towel on the top of the tank and the cats lay on that.
