Humidity Tricks?

So besides Sphagnum moss, wet rags on top of the tanks, large waterbowls, and wet substrate. Do any of you use misters or have any tricks to keep humidity constant?

I do use sorgum moss in my BP's warm side hide, but this time of year the humidity can be a real pain in the rear. I have hit on two things that help me keep the humidity right. I bought a small humidifyer and run it 24/7 in the apartment. Also, I picked up one of these:

I bought the small size, and I put damp, almost wet, papertowels in it. It realeases humidity without getting the substrate wet, and the design keeps Bacchus from getting to the wet towels inside.

Hamster ball. now thats smart, I was considering using the same system I do in my humidors to keep my cigars humid. And was wodnering what you guys think.

You may have to ask your wives to clearify this one for you, as i am nto the best at exlpaining. But for arts and crafts you can by a foam / sponge type material, it is green, and 100% rigid, only chacteristic it has to a sponge is it is very porous. It can be cut or shaved to any shape or size and retains water quite well. It is used in the craft work to hold decorative flowers in certain arrangement I belive. I was considering giving this stuff a try.

Some people do use the sponge techique, but others warn against the bacteria build up that can happen. Thats why I went with the hamster ball. I change out the paper towel when it drys out, so I think that cuts down on the bacteria issue. I prolly change it out every day and a half or so. I'm not a fan of misting, cause it seems to be a short term fix. The hamster ball releases moisture over a longer period of time, in my experience.

I just use a plastic container (glad brand) with holes cut in it. but the same premise

i use the aluminum foil over the whole lid except for a hole a little smaller than the heat lamp over the top. it's been working great so far and i used to have HORRIBLE humidity issues.

I keep chondro's, so humidity is in important aspect! But i let dew point temperature take care of it for me, thanks to my buddy G Shroeder. In the evening when i drop my temperatures the cool air cant hold the moisture so condensation occurs, then my cages/tubs are humid, around 12 hrs or so later they dry out, then the cycle continues! Otherwise rubbermaid tubs work like a charm for keeping the husbandry requirements of a bp up to par humditity/temp wise... Good luck.

I do the aluminum foil + plastic wrap. But all it mostly does for me is keep the heat enclosed. For now, I've been using a damp rag, and sparying the warm side of the tank. The cool side is perfect with the humidity.

I just picked up a bunch of moss for the tank, seems to be helping with humidity and i insualted it, also helping.

As for the moss, what kind of breeding ground is it for bacteria? How often sould i clean, it or replace it?

I only use the moss in my warm side hide, and I mist it every couple of days. I change it out about once a week.
