William T. Bunny (Aka Bill the Bunny)
Well.... here is what happened. I've wanted a rabbit for a long time now - but when I lived home I couldn't have one.

First thing I did when I moved out (about a year ago) was get a ball python (which I also wasn't allowed to have) and get him settled.

Well... a couple weeks ago I started seriously looking into getting a rabbit, but had planned to wait awhile. I've done a ton of research and had a very good idea of what breed I wanted, the setup and all that.

Well... my plans kinda got fast forwarded. I went to the animal shelter just to see... and well... I fell in love with this little black and tan that was an absolute cuddle monster. The minute they took him out he ran right over to me and put his little front legs on my legs and lifted his head up to be pet. So I'm still planning on waiting when my boyfriend brings the bunnies chart over - little guy is scheduled to be put down Friday.

So... its a little sooner than I expected but Bill is coming home tomorrow. He is about 10 months old - and the nice thing is that included in the adoption fee is a nueter/spay - so they are neutering him today and I can take him home tomorrow. I feel like I kind of rushed into it -but I had done all my research I was just going to wait until after the holidays since they can be hectic. (Though I got him a playpen so I can bring him to my dad's house when I go there for the holidays - he only lives 20 minutes away so it won't be a rough trip on the bunny)

But now I have a place all set up for the little guy - I went absolutely crazy at the petstore - my boyfriend was trying to convince me I didn't need a giant outdoor playpen in the middle of winter but this little guy is getting EVERYTHING. According to his surrender form he is already mostly litter trained - the people were moving and didn't want to take a bunny with them.

Well... I'll keep you guys updated on his progress, I can't wait till he can have free run of the house but I know I gotta take it slow - but in the meantime here is a picture of Bill from the shelter. i'll post more once I get him home!

What a beautiful bunny!! Sounds like a real sweetie-pie, too!

One of the beautiful things about doing your research and planning ahead of time, and patiently waiting until the right time....is that the "right time" can then be dropped into your lap like a surprise present from God. :D Sounds like you two were meant to be!

I'm glad that I did go to the shelther to look - I originally had my heart set on a mini rex cause I thought they were adorable but when I interacted with some of them - they really weren't the personality I was looking for - I was looking for a more laid back cuddly kind of bunny and Bill was it.

I watched him go a little crazy playing in his pen but as soon as a person sits down all he wants to do is cuddle, which is exactly what I was looking for!

And you're absolutely right - him coming home with me feels very right, I'm glad that I found him.

Hey all - just a little update. He seems fairly litter trained - he went in his litter box right away to pee - even his litter box in his "playpen". I let him have free reign for awhile and he would come over and give me a little head butt and then run off and frolic and sniff everything.

He seems pretty happy and active.... I have some videos of him running around ... I'm trying to figure out how to get them online...
